Academic services support the College’s mission in research and education

Academic Services: Our mission is to provide an integrated, holistic service for our learners, educators and researchers that delivers a seamless and supportive experience. To find out more please read our Academic Services Strategy (2023 - 2026).

The Academic Services Group is led by the Registrar and University Secretary, Richard Martin and comprises the following services:

Institute of Extended Learning

The Imperial Institute of Extended Learning expands beyond degree programmes to offer advanced STEMB training. Working with Imperial academic departments and the Schools of Convergence Science, the Institute provides advanced skills training for individuals, businesses, governments and other knowledge organisations.

Library Services

Library Services provides a huge range of digital and physical information resources and a wide variety of spaces for independent study across seven campuses. Our expert staff provide library enquiry services for the whole Imperial community including our NHS partners, deliver information literacy training for students, and advise on good practice in scholarly communications and research data management for researchers.

Marketing, Outreach, Recruitment and Admissions

Marketing, Outreach, Recruitment and Admissions (MRA) coordinates and delivers a variety of student recruitment activities on campus, across the UK and Europe and in a wide variety of international markets. It also produces and manages the College's key student recruitment online and print communications as well as receiving and processing all applications to the College.

Registry

Registry is responsible for the administration of academic matters and for supporting student education and experience, including scholarships and financial support, registration of students, module registration, the approval of new programmes of study, quality assurance, oversight of academic regulations, policies and procedures, assessment and examinations, student casework administration, student visas, production of certification for students, student surveys, student records and student data returns.

The Registry supports the delivery of the education and student experience by:
• Providing senior management and Faculty staff with expert guidance on matters affecting academic policy
• Providing students and enquirers with a professional, customer-focussed service which offers consistent, accurate and appropriate advice or information
• Supporting students through the Student Hub
• Supporting the student pillar of the Student Lifecycle Board and university strategy.

Research Office

The University’s Research Office provides information and guidance in support of the University’s externally funded research portfolio. Our primary purpose is to champion professional standards and consistency in research administration across the University to ensure that institutional governance responsibilities and obligations are met. The office is managed through six functional areas; Operational Support, Funding Strategy, Research Governance and Integrity, Research Systems and Information, Europe and Research Contracts Policy.

Student Services

Student Services is made up of a range of specialist student facing support services, including Careers, the Chaplaincy, the Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service, the Disability Advisory Service and the Sexual Violence Liaison Team
