The Ray Society prints at the Silwood Park Campus Library were issued to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Ray Society in 1994.
The Society was established in 1844 with the aim of publishing affordable scientific monographs which ordinary publishers did not consider to be commercial propositions. It is named after John Ray (1627–1705), a renowned early English naturalist.
